Residents in Columbus and other areas around Camp Atterbury can expect a loud, lively weekend. Atterbury will be operating with more than 3,000 personnel during the next week. Units will be using ranges for weapons training including larger, crew-served weapon systems throughout the day and possibly into the night. In addition, service members will be performing various individual and group skills training and aviation training. The Air Guard will be conducting bombing and strafing exercises in the morning hours this Saturday and Sunday, as well as Sunday afternoon. Camp Atterbury officials want residents to be aware in an effort to reduce any possible confusion or concern when the explosions begin and more military activity is seen in the skies.
